How to use the Timo app more effectively!!! 😃✨
Hello?! 👋 Hope you guys are doing well during the pandemic! I am Yeon Uk Lee, Timo’s new blog intern. Today, I will share some tips on how to use Timo more effectively and engaging in our children’s lives.
1. Be an example!
Children learn from their parents! When you start using the app, children will naturally mimic you. I still remember as a little boy, who was seven years old, trying to act like my dad and try to follow everything that my dad did! When my dad started doing vacuum the house, I also did so, even when not asked. We all look up to our parents when we are young. Be an example!
2. Use the app to have fun
Children learn the best when they are having fun and being engaged. To make something a habit, first, we need to execute that action multiple times. However, to make this habit less of a chore, we must make it fun. When we don’t enjoy something, we tend to not do it, but when something is enjoyable, we would voluntarily do that. 3. Create prizes for children
We are driven by the motivation to do something. As a child, I remember I would voluntarily do the dishes every day to be awarded chocolate that my mom would give after the dish was done. Also, when we work or study at school there is always something that gets us going whether that is money, duty, or interest a good grade, enjoyment. Just like that, a prize can be a great motivator for our children to carry out daily routines and they will do it willingly for the prize that they want.
4. Start slowly
We can’t run before we learn how to walk. Before we plan to change everything so drastically, we need small steps to get to the big changes. Starting from sleeping time to planning out everything according to the time, planning your schedule can be done with just small steps. We can’t just say, “Oh, I’m going to start sleeping at 9 pm, wake up at 6 am, run for an hour until 8 am, study for 2 hours before lunch, blah blah blah...” This is NOT going to happen. First, set a sleeping schedule and stick to it to get used to the time that you have while you are staying up. Second, fill up the schedule little by little with things that you can keep up. Week after week, this will become a full schedule, and sooner or later you will see drastic changes in your child’s life or even your life.
